VICKREY provided sustainable civil engineering design services for the development of a new mixed-use, residential and retail facility in North Austin. The project, which was nominated for the 2010 Austin Business Journal’s Best in Commercial Real Estate Award, contains 175 apartments, 10,000 square feet of retail space, and is attached to a five-story parking garage. Amenities include a pool, fitness center, business center, and convenient access to the University of Texas (UT) and Downtown Austin.

Our sustainable design includes a 63,000 gallon capacity underground rainwater collection system for alternative water quality. The rainwater collection system decreases storm water runoff and provides water for the site’s landscape irrigation system. In addition, V&A’s innovative civil design reduced the impervious cover from the previous use by 14%. The building also incorporates a heat reflecting roof to offset urban heat island effect.
